Physicians Search® was founded in 1970 to solve the physician recruitment puzzle faced by the health care industry. The original goal of the company was to provide a high quality, personalized placement service for the Southern California area.

Just as healthcare has evolved in the last two and one-half decades, so have the number of services Physicians Search® has to offer. Although one thing will never change. We are still committed to providing high quality, personalized physician recruitment services.

Virtually from the very beginning, Locum Tenens placement became an integral part of the services offered. This came about because of numerous client requests for fill-in physicians during vacations, continuing medical education seminars and illness. Over the years, this service has provided physicians from every modality to all practice types. Currently, there are physicians available to provide same day coverage up to one or more months at a time from General Practice to Neurosurgery.

In 1972, a practice sales division was added to aid physicians and medical groups. This division, known as California Professional Practices is staffed by licensed professional real estate agents and brokers. Some of the services offered are assistance in the acquisition, disposition, merger or dissolution of medical practices, clinics and labs. Also, provided are practice appraisals that include professional market evaluations of a practice.

During those early years, Physicians Search® was licensed and bonded as a General Agency. We were licensed by the State of California in the early 1970's, after we passed the necessary testing required for licensure. California Professional Practices is also licensed by the State of California, Department of Real Estate, to handle medical practice sales.

In 1983, Physicians Search was one of four companies that assisted in the formation of the National Association of Physician Recruiters [NAPR]. Cliff Rauch, the founder of Physicians Search, was on the Board of Directors of NAPR from 1985 to 1990 was President from 1988 to 1989. He was on the Ethics Committee from 1990 to 1991. Today, this organization has over two hundred and fifty active member companies.

A number of employees of Physicians Search® are active in the recruitment industry either as lecturers or as being quoted and published in local and regional papers, plus local and national medical publications, such as LACMA, Medical Economics and others.

The industry foresight in 1989 to start Alliance Network , Inc., the only national private physician recruitment data base of it's kind, is just one of the reasons Physicians Search® is a leader in the field. Nine companies now participate in this venture; consequently, we have access to over Sixty thousand physicians looking to make a change.

Currently Physicians Search® works with over one thousand two hundred health care companies in the United States, including federally funded HMO's, non profit HMO's, MSO's, PPO's health care chains, hospital chains, hospitals, county owned hospitals, large multi-specialty groups, unispecialty groups, insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies.
